On Tuesday afternoon, Chapel Hill Police Department (CHPD) officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle that had caused an accident and left the scene near Wade Brown Road. While attempting to stop the vehicle, it took off at a high rate of speed and it was determined to discontinue attempting to stop the vehicle due to safety concerns for the public. A few moments’ later CHPD officers working an unrelated traffic stop observed the car which had fled, crash into a pole at Nashville Hwy & S.E. Forrest, officers responded to the scene and observed the driver running away on foot. Officers took him into custody, to face numerous charges. Thankfully, no injuries were sustained and we appreciate your patience while Nashville Hwy was tied up. More information on the arrests’ will be available at a later date.
