Marshall County School Foodservice is teaming up with Second Harvest Food bank and Channel 2 News to tackle hunger in Marshall County. The first annual “Battle of the Cans” competition is going on now until October 31st. The three area high schools are competing for bragging rights and also a mystery prize for the school that has the most items collected based on their enrollment. If one of the Marshall County schools is chosen for the state of TN through Channel 2 News, they could win $1,000 for their school. If you don’t already, please follow Marshall County School Foodservice on twitter for updates on the competition, as well as, all the wonderful things the cafeteria staff do every day! Our goal is to attract as many students and parents for more exposure and retweets. The name of our page is MCSchoolNutrition and our handle is @EatSchoolLunch1.
All of the canned food collected is staying right here in Marshall County. It will be distributed to families in need during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. This food drive is ultimately going to help families in our county and the hope is this project can be done every year. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact Larissa Delk, Foodservice Supervisor, 359-1581 ext 2015.
