On Thursday, August 21, 2019, Detective Tony Nichols of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded to Belfast for explosives found in a house. Detective Nichols found several old blasting caps, along with a vial of nitroglycerin. Detective Nichols contacted the Tennessee Highway Patrol Bomb Squad who responded to the scene. Permission was given by Rogers Group of Lewisburg Quarry for the explosives to be taken there and safely detonated by the bomb squad. The caps found were made from the 1918-1955 periods and at the time used for blowing up tree stumps. Thanks to the T.H.P.
