(Nashville, TENN. January 10, 2012) Due to a drop in blood donations over the holidays, the current supply of type O negative and type B negative blood has declined at the American Red Cross. Donations from donors with type O negative and B negative blood are needed now! 

All presenting donors will be entered to win a $1,000 home improvement gift card and through January 13, presenting donors will also be entered to win a tablet computer valued at $500.

If you prefer to donate on another day, please visit redcrossblood.org to locate another blood donation opportunity in your area. Eligible donors with types O positive and negative, B negative and A negative blood are encouraged to donate double red cells where available.

Call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org for more information or to make an appointment. All blood types are needed to ensure the Red Cross maintains an adequate blood supply. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 with completed Parental Consent Form). New height and weight restrictions apply to donors 18 and younger.
