|Lewisburg City Manager Resigns|
Lewisburg City Manager, Tommy Engram, went to the residence of Barbara Woods, the City Mayor after work hours Friday (January 11, 2013) to personally deliver his resignation. Mayor Woods, who is presently on vacation, was reached by phone for a comment.
According to the City Mayor, several city councilmen had expressed a desire to have a sit down meeting with Mr. Engram about a few city issues. Woods stated that she felt as if this was to be an open discussion type meeting so the issues of concern could be discussed with all parties.
In his resignation letter, Mr. Engram felt that if the councilmen were not pleased with his performance as City Manager, at this point of his contract, then it would be best for him to step aside and for the council to hire some one else for the position.
After speaking with three of the councilmen, WJJM found out that they were not aware of Mr. Engram’s resignation until late Saturday night. A few were not aware of it until Sunday afternoon. Hershel Davis, Odie Whitehead, and Robin Minor were all very surprised to hear of his resignation. Davis even commented to the fact that he thought Engram was doing a decent job and that he was not one of the council members who had requested the meeting.
