Crash Claims Life

At approximately 3:35pm Monday, a two vehicle crash occurred in the curve of Mooresville Road and Old Columbia Road, beside M&R Market.  WJJM spoke with a Lewisburg Police officer at the scene.  A Mercury Mountaineer, driven by 46 year old Keith Wiles, was traveling south on Old Columbia Road onto Mooresville Road and struck the vehicle driven by 38 year old Gretchen Curley of Chapel Hill that was traveling east on Mooresville Road.  A family member of the driver of the Mercury confirmed that Mr. Wiles was killed as a result of this crash.  The other vehicle had two occupants, Gretchen Curley and a child.  Neither of these two were reported to have life threatening injures.

According to the reporting officer, John Christmas, it appears that something health related may have happened prior to the crash to Mr. Wiles because he never yielded at the stop sign and never slowed before the impact occurred on Mooresville Road. This investigation is still ongoing.
