|Plane Crash in South Giles County|
According to WKSR in Pulaski, local emergency crews are working the scene of a plane crash this morning on Highway 11, south of the Pulaski city limits.
The home built kit plane crashed on Highway 11 in front of Flatrock Furniture this morning. Witnesses on the scene said the plane just dropped out of the sky, crashing to the roadway below. The plane burst into flames after crashing. The location of the crash is near the Pulaski/Giles County Airport.
Authorities have not identified the pilot of the plane, but it has been reported that the pilot may have been from Alabama. Reports at the scene indicate the pilot perished in the crash.
A detour has been set up on Highway 11 rerouting traffic behind Flatrock Furniture and around the crash. It is believed the detour will be necessary for several hours as the crash is investigated and the wreckage cleared from the road.
Local emergency response units and Pulaski/Giles County Airport Manager Randy Jones are on the scene. The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be cooperating with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during its investigation. THP Trooper Bradley Smith is in charge of the scene.
