|Peyton Williams Highlighted In Sports Illustrated|
Although the 2013 season didn’t end in favor of the Denver Broncos, Sport Illustrated featured, Tennessee Vol Alumni, Peyton Manning as Sportsman of the Year in their December 2013 issue. Along with talking about the career of this football legacy they also featured four Tennessee teens that were named for the now famous Volunteer. One of those young men just happened to be from Lewisburg, TN. This young man was Peyton Williams, a sophomore on the MCHS football squad and the son of Roger Williams.
Peyton Williams started his football career in the Cornersville Youth Football League and two years ago played in Phoenix Arizona as an eighth grade All-American at Chase Field. Williams has received letters from several SEC colleges and has made a few un-official visits to Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss. Just like his name sake, Peyton dreams of playing ball for a SEC College football team.
As the 2013 high school football season ended for the Marshall County Tigers, Williams suffered what could be a career ending injury. Peyton has had ACL surgery and is currently working hard to return to the playing field for next season. Along with the other Peyton name sakes mentioned in the article, this Peyton Williams is a true Tennessee Volunteer and will remain a Peyton Manning fan for life.
