Marshall County Head Start Announces Start of New Program for 2022-2023

The South-Central Human Resource Agency announces participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program for 2022-2023. Meals will be provided at no separate charge to eligible children/adults without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA served at Marshall County Head Start, 820 2nd Ave. in Lewisburg. Contact the local office for the USDA income eligibility guidelines effective July 1st of this year through June 30, 2023, or email program.intake@usda.gov.

"In 2013, the Lewisburg Animal Shelter Volunteers began a twice-weekly program on WJJM called “Marshall County Pet Patrol”. The purpose was two-fold, first to talk about new intakes with the hope of finding their rightful owners and second, to help find adopters by describing all of our current residents in detail. The results have far exceeded our expectations, and thanks in a big way to our radio exposure our adoption rates have increased significantly. Thank you to the entire staff at WJJM, and our sponsor, Veterinary Services of Chapel Hill…together we are saving the lives of precious fur babies."
