The Marine Corps is conducting a training exercise in the Middle Tennessee region during the month of July. Part of the training will take place at a city location in Lewisburg between the 20th and 30th of this month. This training has been coordinated with local law enforcement and with the personnel running the site. Noise-making devices will be used that will produce sounds of periodic gunfire and explosions but no live ammunition will be used. Vehicles used for the training may include tactical vehicles or helicopters. This training poses no public safety threat and should last one to two hours.
The Lewisburg Police Department is grateful for the support of our neighbors. They are committed to keeping our community safe. A representative from Marine Forces, Special Operations Command has asked the department to express their apologies for any concerns caused by the recent training and thanks for the patience while they conduct this training prior to dangerous deployments.
