On Monday, January 28th at approximately 7:30 p.m. while on routine patrol, K9 Officer Landon Frazier observed a white Jeep traveling south on 5th Avenue North in Lewisburg. The vehicle failed to stop at the red light at 5th Ave North and West Commerce. Officer Frazier pulled the vehicle over in the parking lot of Westside Liquors. Officer Frazier asked the driver, Lakesha Denise Cunningham for her driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance. There were two occupants in the vehicle at the time with Cunningham identified as Bryan Lamar Thompson and Brandon Q. Horton both from Nashville.
While at the driver’s side window Officer Frazier detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Once backup arrived, Frazier asked the occupants to exit the vehicle where he conducted a pat down search of Mr. Thompson and Mr. Horton looking for drugs or weapons. At this time, Frazier started a probable cause search on the vehicle and found a loaded Glock 26 9mm handgun in the passenger side floorboard in plain view. Frazier ran the report on the serial number of the firearm and was advised that the gun was reported stolen out of Nashville.
At this time, the occupants of the vehicle were being detained when Mr. Thompson broke away from Officer Chris Stallings. Stallings pursued on foot until he caught up with Thompson. All individuals were placed into custody for being in possession of a stolen firearm. While being processed at the Jail, Officer Ethan Evans recovered 4 small plastic bags individually packaged containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine in the back seat of the patrol unit. A strip search was then conducted of the subjects and more bags of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana individually packaged and more small bags of white powdery substance believed to be cocaine were found.
Bryan Thompson was charged with Evading Arrest, Possession of Firearm by Felon, Possession of Firearm During a Felony, Possession of Schedule II with Intent to Resale, Possession of Schedule VI with Intent to Resale, Resisting Stop, Frisk, Halt, Arrest, Assault of Officer, and Introduction into Penal Institution. Mr. Thompson was given a court date of Tuesday, February 26th in Marshall County General Session Court and received a total bond of $38,500.00.
Brandon Q. Horton was charged with Possession of Schedule II with Intent to Resale, Possession of Firearm during Felony, and Possession of Firearm by Felon. Horton will also appear in court on Tuesday, February 26th and received a total bond of $21,000.00.
Lakesha Cunningham was charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and was also issued a citation for Traffic Control Device. Cunningham also has a court date of Tuesday, February 26th and received a $500.00 bond.
