(NASHVILLE, Tenn.), September 20, 2017 – Senate Speaker Pro Tempore Jim Tracy (R-Shelbyville) today announced that Lewisburg will receive a major Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). Tracy made the announcement after receiving the information from the Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD).
The city will receive $525,000 to be used for sewer rehabilitation.
“I am pleased to announce that Lewisburg will receive this major grant and want to thank our local officials who were instrumental in helping secure it,” said Senator Tracy, who supported the grant application. “The grant will help make needed improvements to the local sewer system.”
“This kind of infrastructure is very important to the general health and well-being of our citizens. It is also a key component of job creation,” he added.
The funds were allocated under a procedure authorized by the Tennessee General Assembly. ECD administers the grant program based on priorities set at the local level where community needs are best known.
