The voter turnout in Marshall County was unexpectedly low for the mid-term election with only 56.74% of the registered voters electing to cast a ballot. More people voted absentee and early that did the day of the election.
Bill Lee won the Governor’s race earning 70% of the votes in Marshall County. Marsha Blackburn was declared the winner as the first woman in Tennessee to be elected to the Senate winning over 65% of the votes in Marshall County. Scott DesJarlais won almost 68% of the Marshall County votes for the U.S House District 4 and Rick Tillis was re-elected with no problem garnering over 75% of the votes in Marshall County for the Tennessee House District 92 State Representative seat.
In the local Alderman race in the Town of Cornersville Doris Arthur, Mary D. Johnson, and Sheryl McClintock were declared winners as well as Brenda Hasting who is fulfilling her unexpired seat.
