The City of Lewisburg is pleased to announce a major roadway improvement project that will bring enhanced safety and accessibility to a busy intersection. Funded through the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Local Programs using a Surface Transportation Block Grant, this initiative includes the installation of a new traffic signal with ADA-compliant components at the intersection of Mooresville Highway and West Ellington Parkway, as well as new striping on various city streets.
Stansell Electric Company was the successful bidder for the project and will begin work in phases starting in September 2025, with striping of various streets taking place first. The installation of the new traffic signal is projected to begin in February or March of 2026, with a fully operational signal expected by May 2026.
“This project is a key investment in the safety, efficiency, and accessibility of our community’s transportation infrastructure,” said Mayor Jim Bingham. “We are grateful for the continued support of TDOT and City of Lewisburg Grants Administrator Debbie Montgomery on these important improvements.”
The new signal installation will include enhanced pedestrian features to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, ensuring safe and inclusive access for all residents and visitors. Additionally, the new traffic signal will help manage school traffic on West Ellington Parkway and relieve frequent backup of traffic on White Drive.
