Duck River Electric Warns Customers About a New Scam

Reports are coming in now to the Duck River Electric Service that scammers are once again impersonating D.R.E.M.C. and claiming members must pay an urgent past due balance to avoid disconnection. In most recent incidents, a caller instructs the member to phone a fraudulent payment number to make the past due payment. This “spoofed” number could sound identical to the DREMC phone line, further adding to the authenticity of the scam.

Remember:
DREMC will never demand immediate payment by phone or threaten sudden disconnection.
If something feels off, hang up and contact DREMC directly.
Only contact DREMC using the number listed on your bill or our official website, dremc.com.
