On Tuesday, June 30th, 2026, the Lewisburg Police Department responded to a reported domestic incident in progress at Maple Grove Apartments, located at 1230 South Ellington Parkway.
Upon arrival, officers encountered Debra Jones, the victim, who had been struck by a vehicle operated by her son, Leonard C. Jones, in the apartment complex’s parking lot. The suspect’s actions resulted in damage to another vehicle before he fled the scene. Fortunately, the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A BOLO alert was issued for the suspect’s vehicle, which was subsequently located at Hillside Terrace Apartments, 1520 Glenn Avenue. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect attempted to evade law enforcement by driving on the sidewalk and through yards. A pursuit ensued, involving the Lewisburg Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, but was eventually terminated due to safety concerns.
The vehicle was later found abandoned on New Lake Road. Following a search, the suspect, Leonard Jones, was located in a barn, where officers found him with a self-inflicted injury. Life-saving measures were immediately administered, and he was stabilized and transported to a hospital via helicopter.
Leonard Jones will be taken into custody pending his release and clearance from the hospital. He currently has warrants for Aggravated Domestic Assault, Theft of Property, Evading Arrest, Reckless Endangerment, Vandalism, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Reckless Driving.
The Lewisburg Police Department would like to thank the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens who assisted in the suspect’s apprehension.
